On this blog I share with family and friends my daily thoughts, doings, what interests me, and--at times--tributes to my eternal sweetheart, Walt, who graduated to heaven on 8-21-2020.

Dedicated to our seven children--Janie, Gary, Steve, David, Julie, Brian, Jen, their spouses, our 39 grandchildren, 10 spouses of g-c, 7 great-grandchildren, for a posterity of 67.

Today while the electricity was

scheduled to be off from 8:00-2:00,

Julie and I ran errands.

These fire trucks were

by the entrance of our HOA.

I didn't get a photo of

the 6 power company

trucks lined up just before

we got to these fire trucks.

After a stop at Costco we went

to Blossom for Lunch

Julie got Cashew Chicken...

...I got Sweet 'n Sour Chicken.

I found out from Julie that

you can get a salad instead

of the Egg Drop or

Hot 'n Sour Soup.

"Chariots of Fire"

Chariots of Fire** is a 1981 British historical sports drama film directed by Hugh Hudson, written by Colin Welland and produced by David Puttnam. It is based on the true story of two British athletes in the 1924 Olympics: Eric Liddell, a devout Scottish Christian who runs for the glory of God, and Harold Abrahams, an English Jew who runs to overcome prejudice. Ben Cross and Ian Charleson star as Abrahams and Liddell, alongside Nigel Havers, Ian Holm, John Gielgud, Lindsay Anderson, Cheryl Campbell, Alice Krige, Brad Davis and Dennis Christopher in supporting roles. Kenneth Branagh makes his debut in a minor role.
Chariots of Fire was nominated for seven Academy Awards and won four, including Best Picture, Best Original Screenplay and Best Original Score for Vangelis' electronic theme tune. At the 35th British Academy Film Awards, the film was nominated in 11 categories and won in three, including Best Film. It is ranked 19th in the British Film Institute's list of Top 100 British films.
The film's title was inspired by the line "Bring me my Chariot of fire!" from the William Blake poem adapted into the British hymn and unofficial English anthem "Jerusalem"; the hymn is heard at the end of the film.^[4] The original phrase "chariot(s) of fire" is from 2 Kings 2:11 and 6:17 in the Bible.

URSDAY, JULY 25, 2024

Family is Everything...
    Codi checked me in at the
Willow Creek Medical Center
in Lehi...

Dr, David Kimball and his
assistant checked
my medical needs.
My A1C is 7.6 today.
In January it was 8.1,
in April it was 7.1.
Dr. Kimball said now the
guideline is that it can
be up to your age--so
I could be 8.5.
But he likes it to be in the 7's.

Then I had a follow-up appointment
for my new hearing aids.
Jennifer is really great at
what she does.
She said the computer check showed
that I have worn them 14 hours per day
since I got them. She said that is
excellent. Very few of her clients do that.
It showed the percentage of loud
noise, music, conversation,
and quiet time.
I had a lot of quiet time.
This was someone I know from
face book who said he
couldn't come to something
because he had a guest
show up in Montana.

There was a steady flow of friends...
Nadine took a photo of me at the bridge...

Then she took a selfie of her,

They sent these favors home filled with Hershey Kisses that said: "Love is sweet."

Heavenly Father lives and knows us each by name. He loves us and wants us to return to Him and Heavenly Mother when we leave this mortal existence.
He loves us just
as we are at this very moment.
He knows what our potential is.

I am thankful for the guidance of the Holy Ghost as the third member of the Godhead.

Joseph Smith was foreordained to be the Prophet of the Restoration. He is the Restorer of all things.

President Russell M. Nelson is the Living Prophet today for all the world.

The Bible is "the Word of God as far as it is translated correctly" and is a Testament of the Divinity of Jesus Christ.

The Book of Mormon is the Word of God and is Another Testament of Jesus Christ. It is the most correct book of any book on earth.
* * *
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is the True Church on the earth today. Because of the restored Temple Ordinances families can be sealed for eternity.

Of these truths I testify in the

Mother in Heaven

The doctrine of a Heavenly Mother is a cherished and distinctive belief among Latter-day Saints. As Elder Dallin H. Oaks of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles has said, “Our theology begins with heavenly parents. Our highest aspiration is to be like them.” While there is no record of a formal revelation to Joseph Smith on this doctrine, some early Latter-day Saint women recalled that he personally taught them about a Mother in Heaven. The earliest published references to the doctrine appeared shortly after Joseph Smith’s death in 1844, in documents written by his close associates. The most notable expression of the idea is found in a poem by Eliza R. Snow entitled “My Father in Heaven” and now known as the hymn “O My Father.” This text declares: “In the heav’ns are parents single? / No, the thought makes reason stare; / Truth is reason—truth eternal / Tells me I’ve a mother there.”

Subsequent Church leaders have affirmed the existence of a Mother in Heaven. In 1909, the First Presidency taught that “all men and women are in the similitude of the universal Father and Mother, and are literally the sons and daughters of Deity.” Susa Young Gates, a prominent leader in the Church, wrote in 1920 that Joseph Smith’s visions and teachings revealed the truth that “the divine Mother, [is] side by side with the divine Father.” And in “The Family: A Proclamation to the World,” issued in 1995, the First Presidency and Quorum of the Twelve Apostles declared, “Each [person] is a beloved spirit son or daughter of heavenly parents, and, as such, each has a divine nature and destiny.”
