Traces of Time . . . November 14-20, 2022

Traces of Time . . .             {Last week: Scroll to end and click "Older Posts" at bottom right.} On this blog I share with family and friends my daily thoughts, doings, what interests me, and--at times--tributes to my eternal sweetheart, Walt, who graduated to heaven on 8-21-2020.

Dedicated to our seven children--Janie, Gary, Steve, David, Julie, Brian, Jen, their spouses, our 39 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, and posterity to come.

2 Parts of the Lord's mission:
Savior = Saves us from death through
the Atonement and Resurrection.
Redeemer = One who changes us
for the better, reforms
and reshapes us.
Jesus came and performed the
Atonement not only to save us
from death and sin, but also
to Redeem us.
The goal is not just to be
with God - SAVED,
but being like God - REDEEMED.
The Savior is with
us always.
The Savior and Redeemer,
Jesus Christ has engraven us
upon the palms of His hands
and wrists.

Some of us got in a photo

out in the sunshine.

 They have good food.

I was brave and went out of my

comfort zone. Instead of the

Sweet 'n Sour Chicken I ordered

the Pineapple Curry.

It was good and filled me up so

fast I could only eat a little

over half of it.

   Our Wednesday night movie was:

 A Thanksgiving movie from 2007

"Dan in Real Life"

Earlier in the week I scouted out

 another Thanksgiving movie from 1993

A comedy called

Son-in-Law.

It was pretty far out...didn't know

if Gary would like it or not.

                       Family is Everything…

Worked on my blog today.

In my Book of Mormon reading,

I'm in Ether. I've always thought this

so interesting that a record of

the Jaredites was preserved and found.

And that Moroni added it because he

lived longer than he thought he would.

The Lord is in charge!

FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 18, 2022

Family is Everything…

Jackson is home sick today with
a bad cough.

As Julie left for St. George about

four o'clock, she told Jackson

to take lots of medicine.

She drove Maddie, Addie, and

I think Jacee to dance competitions there.

My throat is feeling scratchy and

sure enough, I coughed all night, even

sitting up in the recliner and

taking a generic Nyquil.

                    Family is Everything…

 Rendezvousing with Jen and Liz

to go to Time Out for Women

20th Year...

The theme is

"The Light of Christ"

They said there were

5000  in attendance.

It was at the Mountain America

Exposition Center in Sandy.

Mary Ellen Edmunds--already a

beloved and popular speaker--started

with TOFW in its first year...

in 2002 when she was 62.

Today was her final talk, because

at age 82 she is retiring.

She did not disappoint and

enthralled us all with her

"swan song." She has been

a favorite of mine for many years!

She spoke in Oakley, Idaho once

at a Regional gathering for the

Young Women, their mothers,

and their leaders.

Julie went with me, but Jen was not in

YW yet...so I'm thinking it was

about 1985.

Now, Jen has become good friends

with Mary Ellen from some work

they have done together.

Mary Ellen Edmunds - Author and

 public speaker

Edmunds has written a number of books. She has been an instructor at Education Week at BYU in Provo, Idaho, and Hawaii. She has also participated in Especially for Youth programs.[2] Many of her books are inspirational and filled with her suggestions on how to live a happier life. She incorporates stories from her mission and adds touches of humor.[3]

Her published works include:

Some of the slides

from her talk today:

Thanks, Jen, for getting me

the ticket for this

and driving me to and from.

Hope it didn't make you too

late driving to Vernal and

back to have Sue--

Jerry's Mom fly out to

Minnesota with you

for Thanksgiving.

Family is Everything…

 I was coughing too much

--all through the night--

and this morning to

go to Church. I

thought that I'd get to

watch it on zoom, but

that didn't work so

I just coughed and

felt miserable.

In between coughing spells

I worked on my blog.

Julie got back from

St. George about

four o'clock.
Daily Quote: The Lord Jesus, whose witnesses we are, is the Firstborn of the Father, the Firstborn of every creature. He was the Beloved and Chosen One from the beginning. Our Lord—the Lord Jehovah, the Lord Jesus—is our hope and our salvation. He it is that hath brought life and immortality to light through the gospel. He has redeemed us from death, hell, the devil, and endless torment. - Bruce R. McConkie

** *I am so thankful for The Plan of Salvation and the Atonement of  Jesus Christ that makes this Great Plan operational.
At the end of this November 20th,

I pray you have had a

restful , peaceful, and spiritual

Sabbath Day...

I share these truths as my testimony to you...

Heavenly Father lives and knows us each by name. He loves us and wants us to return to Him and Heavenly Mother when we leave this mortal existence.
He loves us just
as we are at this very moment.
He knows what our potential is.
*** *** ***
Jesus Christ came to earth as The Only Begotten of the Father and fulfilled the Atonement. He is the Redeemer of all.
*** *** ***
I am thankful for the guidance of the Holy Ghost as the third member of the Godhead.
Walt said to me once: "I look forward to thanking the Holy Ghost in person when I get to Heaven. I don't think we give Him enough credit for all He does."

***  *** *** *** ***
Joseph Smith was foreordained to be the Prophet of the Restoration.  He is the Restorer of all things.
*** *** ***
President Russell M. Nelson is the Living Prophet today for all the world.
*** *** ***
The Bible is "the Word of God as far as it is translated correctly" and is a Testament of the Divinity of Jesus Christ.
*** *** ***
The Book of Mormon is the Word of God and is Another Testament of Jesus Christ. It is the most correct book of any book on earth.
*** *** ***
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is the True Church on the earth today.  Because of the restored Temple Ordinances families can be sealed for eternity.

*** *** ***
Of these truths I testify in the Name of Jesus Christ, amen.
