Stretching across 800 miles (1,287 km), the Karakoram Highway links Pakistan and China via the stunning Khunjerab Pass, which rises to 15,397 feet (4,693 meters). Often referred to as the “Eighth Wonder of the World,” this highway traces the path of an ancient Silk Road and took two decades to build, with construction commencing in 1959 and concluding in 1979, finally opening to the public in 1986.
