Note from Eileen: You will notice I call my blog: "Traces of Time..."
On this blog I share with family and friends my daily thoughts, doings, what interests me, and--at times--tributes to my eternal sweetheart, Walt, who graduated to heaven on 8-21-2020 at age 86.

Dedicated to our seven children--Janie, Gary, Steve, David, Julie, Brian, Jen, their spouses, our 39 grandchildren, 9 spouses married to our grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, 1 due in April and posterity to come.
So our posterity now numbers 66. Number 67 due in April.

Valentine’s Day Message

As many Latter-day Saints celebrate Valentine’s Day, President Russell M. Nelson shared a heartwarming reminder about one of the most powerful kinds of love.

He shared on his social media platforms the following message:

On Valentine’s Day, people the world over celebrate love. But what does the word “love” really mean? Is it about flowers, chocolate, and gifts? Certainly, at times, it can be. But the second great commandment teaches of a different kind of love—that of actively loving our neighbor.

Quorum of the Twelve Apostles

Is Now Available

A new photo of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is now available. The photo includes President Jeffrey R. Holland, new Acting President of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles, and Elder Patrick Kearon, who was called to the quorum December 7, 2023. The shot was taken in the Church Administration Building on February 6, 2024.

Jeffrey R. Holland
Jeffrey R. Holland was ordained a member of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on June 23, 1994. He was sustained as Acting President of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles on November 16, 2023.

Dieter F. Uchtdorf
Dieter F. Uchtdorf was sustained as a member of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles of the Church on October 2, 2004.

David A. Bednar
David A. Bednar was ordained and set apart as a member of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on October 7, 2004.

Quentin L. Cook
Quentin L. Cook was sustained as a member of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on October 6, 2007. Called as a General Authority in April 1996, he served in the Second Quorum, the First Quorum, and the Presidency of the Seventy.

D. Todd Christofferson
D. Todd Christofferson was called to the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on April 5, 2008.

Neil L. Andersen
Neil L. Andersen was named an Apostle of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on April 4, 2009.

Ronald A. Rasband
Ronald A. Rasband was called to the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles on October 3, 2015.

Gary E. Stevenson
Gary E. Stevenson was sustained to serve as a member of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles on October 3, 2015. At the time of his call to the Twelve, he had been serving as the Presiding Bishop of the Church since April 2012.

Dale G. Renlund
Dale G. Renlund was named to the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles on October 3, 2015.

Gerrit W. Gong
Gerrit W. Gong was sustained as a member of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on March 31, 2018.

Ulisses Soares
Ulisses Soares was sustained as a member of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on March 31, 2018.

Patrick Kearon
Patrick Kearon was called to the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on December 7, 2023.

Today, as in ancient times, Jesus Christ calls Apostles to represent Him. The Quorum of the Twelve Apostles is the second-highest presiding body in the government of the Church of Jesus Christ. Quorum members serve under the direction of the First Presidency, which includes the Church President and two counselors. In addition to their primary responsibility to be special witnesses of the name of Christ throughout the world, Apostles have significant administrative responsibilities in overseeing the operation and development of a global Church.

The photo was shared by President Holland, who said:

"For three decades, it has been my honor and privilege to associate with the members of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Without exception, every one of these men has helped me become a better disciple of Jesus Christ.

As we gathered recently to take a quorum photo, I felt a sense of immense gratitude to be part of an ongoing order of ancient and modern-day disciples of Jesus Christ.

The names and faces of those in this quorum change over time, but that which is essential remains: each apostle has accepted the charge “to be a special witness of the name of Christ in all the world.” No sweeter work could ever be given to anyone, nor any finer group of men with which to do it."

I am so thankful for The Plan of Salvation and the Atonement of Jesus Christ that makes this Great Plan operational.

At the end of this February 18th,
I pray you have had a
restful , peaceful, and spiritual
Sabbath Day...
I share these truths as my testimony to you...

Heavenly Father lives and knows us each by name. He loves us and wants us to return to Him and Heavenly Mother when we leave this mortal existence.
He loves us just
as we are at this very moment.
He knows what our potential is.

Jesus Christ came to earth as The Only Begotten of the Father and fulfilled the Atonement. He is the Redeemer of all.

I am thankful for the guidance of the Holy Ghost as the third member of the Godhead.
Walt said to me once: "I look forward to thanking the Holy Ghost in person when I get to Heaven. I don't think we give Him enough credit for all He does."

Joseph Smith was foreordained to be the Prophet of the Restoration. He is the Restorer of all things.

President Russell M. Nelson is the Living Prophet today for all the world.
* * *
The Bible is "the Word of God as far as it is translated correctly" and is a Testament of the Divinity of Jesus Christ.
* * *
The Book of Mormon is the Word of God and is Another Testament of Jesus Christ. It is the most correct book of any book on earth.
* * *
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is the True Church on the earth today. Because of the restored Temple Ordinances families can be sealed for eternity.

Of these truths I testify in the Name of Jesus Christ, amen.
