WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 25, 2021Family is Everything...and so are Friends... Ladies' Lunch was at China Isle in Am Fork
These five were able to come today:
Jeanie, Sharon, Eileen,
Kaye, and Jennie.
We always miss those who can't come.
Jeanie and Sharon
Eileen, Kaye, Jennie
China Isle is just a little restaurant
near the D.I. in American Fork.
I thought the paintings in their
menu were charming...
None of us order the *Hot&Spicy...
The orders ranged from Sweet 'n Sour Pork,
Sweet 'n Sour Chicken, to Caschew Chicken.
We all agreed the Egg Flower Soup was yummy. I took a photo of Sharon and Kaye...
Then when Jeanie came out,
I got a photo of these three...
Then Jeanie took a selfie of us four.
She couldn't wait to show her daughter
how savvy tech she is!~
Some were out of town, some had dental
or medical appointments. We always
miss those who can't come.
Sharon said she and Howard got to
go to BYU Education Week last
week for the first time ever and
it was wonderful! Linda Bright
also got to go.

*** *** *** *** *** *** *** For Movie Night, Gary and I have chosen another Hitchcock mystery: "Dial M for Murder"
Dial M for Murder is a 1954 American crimemysterythriller film directed by Alfred Hitchcock, starring Ray Milland, Grace Kelly, Robert Cummings, Anthony Dawson, and John Williams. Both the screenplay and the successful stage play on which it was based were written by English playwright Frederick Knott. The play premiered in 1952 on BBC Television,[4] before being performed on stage in the same year in London's West End in June, and then New York'sBroadway in October. Originally intended to be shown in dual-strip polarized 3-D, the film played in most theatres in ordinary 2-D due to the loss of interest in the 3-D process (the projection of which was difficult and error-prone) by the time of its release.[5] The film earned an estimated $2.7 million in North American box office sales in 1954.[6]
We liked it...suspensful as all Hitchcock's movies are.

First, Happy Birthday to our darling daughter, Jennifer Petersen Brewer
Jen--Brian didn't want his little sister, Jen, and his big sister, Julie, giving him a kiss on the cheek!

The funeral for Cliff Dunston was tender and touching today. Here's a photo they had on display of Cliff and Judy. Judy is the one who organizes our Ladies' Lunches for each Wednesday.
This is a charcoal sketch of the Savior that
Cliff made by covering the canvas with charcoal,
then erasing till he had this outline.
He was an art teacher at BYU.
This was the first funeral Bishop Cheney has
conducted. He did well. Cliff's four sons
all shared great memories of their Dad,
and bore testimony of the Gospel
and the Savior.
Judy shared tender memories of her
husband Cliff of 23 years.
His son, Michael, turned to Judy at
the end of his remarks and said:
"Judy, you gave my Dad happiness
he had never known." And said what
a strong, wonderful woman she is.
That was so touching coming
from a step-son.
Both Bishop Mardesich--just released
May 2nd--and Bishop Cheney shared
special memories with Cliff, and
also sacred doctrine about the
purpose of life, the Atonement
of the Savior, and Plan of Salvation.

The statue of Angel Moroni on Temples for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints
Here's a photo of the statue of Angel Moroni
on Saratoga Springs Temple currently
being built just to the west of Julie & John's home. Utah Lake is to the East. The statue of Angel Moroni faces west, which is where the entrance is.💙

the tree line on the shore of Utah Lake.}

Family is Everything... I just saw this quote today
by Minerva Teichert
...she was such a great artist!
Daily Scripture:And it came to pass that they did worship the Lord, and
did go forth with me; and we did work timbers of curious workmanship. And the
Lord did show me from time to time after what manner I should work the
timbers of the ship. - 1 Nephi 18:1
Daily Quote:Eternity
seems very real to me. I want … to be able to paint after I leave here. Even
though I should come back nine times I still would not have exhausted my
supply of subjects and one life time is far too short but may be a schooling
for the next. - Minerva Teichert
Here are some of my favorite paintings by her...
"Rescue of the Lost Lamb" This painting was in our San Salvador
El Salvador Temple where Walt was blessed to be the temple
president from July 2011 to November 2014. It was dedicated
August 21, 2011. President Petersen and his counselors
had spent July 21 to August 20, 2011, interviewing members
to be called as temple workers.
"Queen Esther" painted in 1939, artist age 51.
...this painting was also in our San Salvador
El Salvador Temple, in the Bride's Room, which was also my
office when I was blessed to be Matron of the Temple,
July 2011 to Nov 2014.
"Not Alone 1847" the pioneer woman with her son, showing
angels all around her helping her along the weary way.
"Betty and the Seagulls" the miracle of 1848...I looked
it up to make sure I got the date right. The miracle of the gulls is an 1848 event often credited by Latter-day Saints ("Mormons") for saving the Mormon pioneers' second harvest in the Salt Lake Valley.
My very favorite paintings of Minerva Teichert's are the murals
inside the Manti Temple. The world room has a history of the
inhabitants of this earth. There were some photos of these
murals when I pulled up Minerva Teichert's paintings, but
they were blurry and I didn't find all that I remembered
from having been in that beautiful pioneer temple.
Christ in a Red Robe, Queen Esther, and Return of Captive Israel
Since I only showed one of her
"Notable Works" here are the
other two:
"Christ in the Red Robe" as
described by Isaiah at His Second Coming.
Minerva painted this one and the
next one in 1945 at age 57.
"Return of Captive Israel"

Family is Everything...
We had great talks given today in our
Saratoga Springs 3rd Ward
Sacrament Meeting by
Teague Graham, and Mark Beecher
They shared inspirational experiences
from the recent Ward Youth Conference.
Teague was very touched by the
"Faith/Spirit Walk" and that when
he was lured away from holding on
to the rope...he was given a
second chance to get ahold
of it again.
President Beecher shared a
parable he made up about
things in our world we relate to:
comparing our experience in
the Church to
Home Depot, Costco, and
Burgers Supreme.
His experience with Home Depot
is casual; with Costco requires
a membership so a little more
invested in it; but with
Burgers Supreme he is loyal
because in his experiece it
has the best burger of anywhere
he has ever been.
Let's love the
Gospel/Church/Savior because
we get a rich, full experience.
Pray because we want to connect
to our loving Heavenly Father
and His loving Son, Jesus Christ.
And as Teague had reaffirmed
in his life at Youth Conf:
Because of the Savior we do
get to repent and try again...
to keep holding on to the
rope--the Iron Rod.

Here's a great testimony of the Savior
by Neal A. Maxwell that I just saw:
“...Finally, I should like to leave my own witness. In my life, whichever way I turn, brothers and sisters, there looms Jesus, name of wondrous love. He is our fully atoning and fully comprehending Savior, and in the words of scripture, “There is none like unto him.”
Whether taught in the holy scriptures or in the holy temples, his gospel is remarkable. Whether it concerns the nature of God, the nature of man, the nature of the universe, the nature of this mortal experience, it is remarkable. His gospel is stunning as to its interior consistency. It is breathtaking as to its exterior expansiveness. Rather than existing without the gospel in a mortal maze, instead I stand all amazed at the wonders of that gospel that we should be privileged to be his children....” Neal A. Maxwell (The Children of Christ; Feb. 4, 1990)

I AM SO THANKFUL FOR THE PLAN OF SALVATION
AND THE ATONEMENT OF JESUS CHRIST
THAT MAKES THIS GREAT PLAN OPERATIONAL.
At the end of this August 29th,
I pray you have had a
restful , peaceful, and spiritual
Sabbath Day...
I share these truths as my testimony to you...
Heavenly Father lives and knows us each by name. He loves us and wants us to return to Him and Heavenly Mother when we leave this mortal existence. He loves us just as we are at this very moment.

Jesus Christ came to earth as The Only Begotten of the Father and fulfilled the Atonement. He is the Redeemer of all.
Daily Scripture:Therefore with joy shall ye draw water out of the wells of salvation. - Isaiah 12:3
Daily Quote:As at Jacob’s well, so today the Lord Jesus Christ is the only source of living water. It will quench the thirst of those suffering from the drought of divine truth that so afflicts the world. - Jospeh B. Wirthlin

Joseph Smith was foreordained to be the Prophet of the Restoration. He is the Restorer of all things.
Here is a good quote by Joseph Smith about exaltation:
Daily Scripture:And he received not of the fulness at first, but continued from grace to grace, until he received a fulness. - Doctrine and Covenants 93:13
Daily Quote:When you climb up a ladder you must begin at the bottom, and ascend step by step, until you arrive at the top; and so it is with the principles of the gospel—you must begin with the first, and go on until you learn all the principles of exaltation. - Joseph Smith

President Russell M. Nelson is the Living Prophet today for all the world.

The Bible is "the Word of God as far as it is translated correctly" and is a Testament of the Divinity of Jesus Christ.
*** *** ***
The Book of Mormon is the Word of God and is Another Testament of Jesus Christ. It is the most correct book of any book on earth.
*** *** ***
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is the True Church on the earth today.

Of these truths I testify in the Name of Jesus Christ, amen.
