Here's our photo taken during the week...Wednesday night at our Burley Third Ward Christmas Party.
December 8, 2014 - Monday
Today I remember my Dad 102 years after his birth.
Arnold G. Albertson, was born December 8, 1912 in Jackson, Cassia County, Idaho. He passed away on February 6, 1982, of colon cancer at age 69 in Burley, Cassia County, Idaho.
We still miss you, Daddy, and will always love you. We are happy that you are now reunited with your eternal sweetheart, Verna.
This photo was taken in June 1962, when Walt and I drove home to Gooding, Idaho, from St. Louis, Missouri, for a short vacation between Walt's third and fourth years in medical school.
December 14, 2014 - Sunday
We went to our Burley 3rd Ward Sacrament Meeting - then we drove to Acequia -- 6 miles north of Rupert (so about 12 miles from our home), where Kyle Carpenter was sustained and ordained the bishop of the Acequia First Ward. Bishop Carpenter was one of "Bishop Petersen's" Aaronic Priesthood young men.
The Rupert Idaho Stake Presidency is on the left--President Eames is third from the left. I heard one counselor's name as President Hunsaker, but I did not hear the other counerlor's name.
The new Acequia First Ward Bishopric is on the right.
Bishop Kyle Carpenter is on the far right.
He told us he was a year ahead of our daughter, Janie, so he was the Class of 1980 at Burley High School.
Here is a closer view of the Bishopric. Bishop Kyle Carpenter is in the center. Sorry, I didn't get the names of the first and second counselors.
Here is some of the Carpenter family, who wanted us to be in the picture with them. Bishop Carpenter's parents, Harry and Clyda, are to our left. And to their left are Bishop Carpenter's brother, Kirk, and his son Kory. I didn't know the Bishop's sister, Keri was there or we would have had her in the photo. She talked with us later. She had two of her beautiful daughters with her.
The Bishop's other daughter, Krishna, is overseas with her husband and children. He is working in a foreign country.
Here is Harry Carpenter, whose two sons have now been called as Bishops. We love this family!
And on our way to Acequia, we knew we were back in the West when we saw a cattle drive in front of us with cows and a cowboy on horseback blocking the state highway.
And that's all I'm going to get posted tonight.
I hope to catch up later this week.
We pray you have had a peaceful and restful Sabbath Day.
As we are nearing Christmas in eleven days, we would offer all of you the gift of being part of
The Church of JESUS CHRIST of
Latter-day Saints.
Just talk to any missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints to learn more.
It will change your life for the better
as you read the Book of Mormon,
which is
Another Testament of Jesus Christ.
Heavenly Father sent his first-born spirit child
as His only mortal son
to become our Redeemer and Savior.
We are grateful for the Birth,
Perfect Life,
and Atonement
of JESUS CHRIST.
This is the
Merry Christmas
we wish for you
this December.
This is the testimony we leave
with you on this Sunday, December 14, 2014.
In the name of Jesus Christ,
Amen.
Walt and Eileen Petersen
