Our 53rd Wedding Anniversary.
We were invited to the farewell luncheon that President David and Hna. Beverly Glazier hosted for the stake presidents and their wives of the stakes in the El Salvador San Salvador Easte Mission before
they leave the end of June after three years of dedicated, faithful service.
The luncheon was at the Brazilian Parilla in The Intercontinental Hotel.
Here's a view from the other end of this table.
Here's the other table...
The other side of the table...and if I knew everyone's name, I would have put them.
Here's Walt choosing a cut of meat.
Here's Daniel and Kelly...
The roasted steak, filet mignon, turkey, were all big hits, but the roasted pineapple glazed with honey seemed to be an even bigger hit. (Guess I didn't get a photo of the pineapple on the skewers.) The dessert table was also extremely popular.
Then the Glaziers had us all go out onto the back patio and lawn to give a short, heart-warming farewell messge.
Then they surprised everyone with a wonderful gift to each couple: a statue of the national El Salvadorian bird--the toragos--two of them sculpted in a tree.
Then pictures were taken....
Here's a smaller size that will show everyone in the group...
Here we are holding our treasured gift from the Glaziers.
President & Hna. Glazier drove us back to the temple grounds so I got a photo of them by the temple.
We are going to miss them so much. Well, everyone here is going to miss them, too. They are a wonderful mission president and wife.
When the temple missionaries got back from their Saturday afternoon shift, Hna. Haroldsen, Udall, and Caballero came to wish us "Happy Anniversary."
I counted down for several years to our "50th Wedding Anniversary" but now they continue after that milestone. We'll take them for many more years to come.
For our anniversary gift to each other we are going to look for a nice framed picture of a palm tree to remind us of the beautiful countryside here in El Salvador. There is one here in the temple president's apartment, but we didn't think it wise to take it home with us.
Now to this week...

Walt drove Hna. Udall, Hna. Haroldsen, and me grocery shopping at the big Super Selectos past the mercado. Then we went to Pizza Hut to have lunch.
Daniel and Kelly's first time to Pizza Hut in San Salvador. We love having them here!
From here we drove Daniel and Kelly for their afternoon volunteering at Hope and Love Children's Home. They helped tutor
the kids in math and English today and early evening.
Elder y Hna. Haroldsen gave the Family Home Evening lesson on obedience.
I didn't get a group photo of us in the Commons Room but I got one of each couple as we were listening to the lesson. L-R: Sharon Haroldsen, Irma Caballero, Roberto Caballero.
Hna. Consuelo Alas, Presidente Eduardo Alas, Jeanne Udall.
Hna. Aida Majano, Presidente Rafael Majano.
But I didn't get a photo of us.
Hna. Haroldsen served buttery vanilla cookies and chocolate no-bake cookies with coconut in them.
Elder Haroldsen gave an excellent lesson on "Obedience" by having us read several scriptures that talk about this important virtue.
1. Deuteronomy 11:26-28 "...blessing if ye obey the commandments of the Lord your God."
2. I Samuel 15:22 "...to obey is better than to sacrifice..."
3. Alma 3:;26-27 "...listeth to obey..."
4. Doctrine & Covenants 130:21 "...when obtain any blessing from God, it is by obedience to that law upon which it is predicated."
5. Doctrine & Covenants 132:5 "For all who will have a blessing at my hands shall abide the law which was appointed for that blessing, and the conditions thereof, as were instituted from before the foundation of the world."
6. Abraham 3:25-26 "And we will prove them herewith to see if they will do all things whatsoever the Lord their God shall command them."
Sunday nap time.... more later today
